About the Role

As the Extension & Engagement Technical Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in extending and delivering ABRI’s livestock improvement services, including the BREEDPLAN® genetic evaluation. Your focus will be on delivering a range of extension initiatives and resources, providing expert technical advice, and building strong relationships with clients, beef producers and industry across Australia and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key member of the ABRI Extensions & Engagement team.

  • Develop and deliver workshops, training, and presentations on beef breeding and genetic evaluation technologies.

  • Provide tailored herd consultations to beef producers.

  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders, including breed societies, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), and the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU).

  • Support the testing and development of BREEDPLAN and BreedObject software, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

  • Contribute to the evolution of ABRI’s genetic evaluation technologies, including MateSel and GeneProb.

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by customising and implementing Extension & Engagement services.

  • Maintain accurate records of activities and ensure alignment with company policies and industry standards.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A strong background in livestock genetics, animal breeding, or a related field.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in delivering training or workshops, preferably within the beef industry.

  • A passion for innovation and improving livestock productivity.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
